Today at technology we had to make a figure of 8 using the m-bot before move onto a bigger map.

It was very funny for me today because I had complications with not only one but two m-bots. When I put my code on the m-bots it will do something else from what I coded. I liked my first one better because when we went to go and try it, it was just going back and forward. Using my 3rd m-bot I finally finished the task and that was when the class had to log out of m-bot maker. I really enjoyed it at tech with my class mates.

We finished the day at technology with a cartoon theme game of kahoot, Tatai,Aria and I came 3th because we where working as a team.

Today The year 7 and 8´s went to technology and when we got into our class my class mates and I got to play a warm up quiz and the quiz was about shapes and why they and called that. After that My Tech teacher told us to go on his website to find our work and when we got on the website. We had to make a copy of the work. It was really fun at our tech class because we learnt how to play a song with the Mbot. It took a long time to get the song perfect the song we did was Happy Birthday.. When it was just about time to pack up we played 2 games of kahoot and the first one was about the Mbot. Thereafter we played another kahoot and that one was about cartoon characters.

Today my class and I went robotics, we learnt the important parts in the m-bots and how it functions. We played some games like Binary game,Quizzes,Kahoot it was fun because I completed it and got 100%! after that we learnt more about mbot. It was so fun learning about it and having fun with my classmates while playing with the m-bots! Before we got to the end of the lesson we had a little bit of fun with the spinning wheel and what we did with the spinning wheel we span the wheel 3 times to see who got a chocolate. It was fun today in my tech class.

Explanation Writing (What Makes a Good Friend)

Everyone needs a friend

Being a good friend means when you take care of them when they are feeling upset. There is this one thing that can make you become a better person & a better friend and that word is (TEAMWORK) teamwork is when you and your friends collaborate together. The most important thing in friendship is teamwork and for the young people that don't know what teamwork stands for i'll tell you. Teamwork stands for Together Everyone Attaining Meaningful Well Organized Reward-able Work.

What would you do without a friend? Well in my opinion I think when you don’t have any friends you will probably be sad,depressed and maybe even miserable. Without a friend you will never have anyone to express your feelings to.

What qualities make someone a good friend? I think Non-Judgemental people make a good friend because they don’t judge you when you make mistakes and even when you do something wrong. However being loyal also makes a good friendship because when you tell them secrets they won't go out there and spread rumours about what you told them. 

How can you be a friend for someone who needs one? However to be a friend who needs one can listen to others and be real with one another. I also think that when you ask someone if they need help then you are also making a good friend.

How can you become loyal to your friends? Well in my opinion I think that to become loyal to your friends is when you are always there for them when they need you. Like for example when they are stuck in their work and you are done doing your work you can at least take a little bit of your time and help them out so they can get on with their work. 

Why do you have to be nice to one another? Well in my eyes I think we have to be nice to one another because you don’t know what is going on in their personal life. Like they might be coming to school and they may look happy on the outside but they are sad,depressed and maybe even suicidal. That is why it is good to be nice to one another. If you want to be a good friend I suggest that you should be nice to one another. 

You never know maybe one day you will wake up and think that the person who you were bullying is coming to school but really that person is gone and you know what it means by gone. (Killed them self) because of bullying. So I think in my opinion you should never judge others on their phenotype for those who don't know what phenotype means it means their physical appearance.

Being a good friend can be hard I agree but at the end of the day you have to push yourself to be a good friend. Like I said before you don’t know how they feel when they come to school. Like in our school we have our school values (REACH) each letter stands for something like R (Responsibility) E (Effort) A (Ako) C (commitment) and H (Honesty) all of these words also apply to being a good friend. 

Responsibility applies to being a good friend because say that you have done something to that person it's your responsibility to own up and say that you have done it. Effort also applies to being a good friend because you have to but in at least some effort to help your friends. Ako applies because ako means to teach and help others and when you teach someone you are really trying to push them over their limit. Commitment is when you have the courage to help others share with others and more. Honesty is one of the most important things you should have in your friendship/life and more. Honesty applies to friendship because you always have to be honest to everyone because like everyone says honesty is the best policy.

Can people have 2 best friends well in my opinion I think it is Yes, it is entirely possible to have 2 best friends. I have two closest friends, one with whom I share a deep intellect connection and the other with my other troubles. One friend may not understand all your dimensions. So it's entirely possible to have two bffs.

This brings me to the end of my explanation writing about friendship. I hope you guys know that friendship is one of the most important things in life. Friendship is good because at the end of the day if you have no friends you will be lonely. I hope you know the point of what I was writing about.

Today we went to Tamaki College , for technology. Today when we got into class there were tables that were separated for safety reasons.

First thing we did was logging into our computers, and started playing the Binary  game then went on playing the Classic maze   game , were you have to give it set instructions to do what you have asked it to do. This time the coding game was a different compared to the last game one we've done, because it was the angry bird trying to catch the naughty green pig. We had to complete all twenty levels, and I've completed all of it. Then we ended the class off with two quizizz games, about naming the logo

Tongan Language Week (Activity 1)

 

Today in Room six we have a whole lot of activities to do apart of the Tongan Language Week. I really enjoy Tongan Language Week because I get a better understanding on how to speak Tongan. 

Two men arrested over Northland cannabis growing operation

Police have uncovered another alleged large-scale illegal cannabis growing operation in Northland with 2000 plants being destroyed.

It comes only six months after 4000 cannabis plants were found in a large growing operation in Kaipara.

Yesterday police confirmed they carried out a search warrant at a property in Kerikeri on July 28 and found a large amount of cannabis.

Two men were arrested. Police would not release any further information as the case was now before the courts.

Man allegedly pulled gun on police officers during traffic stop in Auckland Central

A young man has been arrested after allegedly presenting a firearm at police following a routine traffic stop in Auckland Central.

Police pulled over the vehicle on Victoria St West around 11.44am today, Auckland City Central area commander Inspector Gary Davey said in a statement.

The driver of the vehicle supplied false details to officers and was placed under arrest.

Pewter Casting

3 weeks ago we continued with our pewter casting workbook, and this particular workbook leaded to creating a pendant. (A pendant is a piece of jewellery that hangs from a chain) In our workbook we write down the recipients, then write down the reason why we created it for them or myself. After we finish that our tech teacher will inform us on how to make the pendent. Then 12 of May we went to Tamaki College for Technology. At Tamaki College we learned different types of subjects, such as science, robotics, food technology and hard work material. I'm currently in hard work material. In this particular class we had to continue on with our task which was our workbooks, in this workbook it preserved information about creating our pendant. (Pewter is a type of metal that is soft and gentle, it can be easily shaped by hand or machine)  After we finished we would move on to the next step which is choosing a design, than creating that design in pewter. Today we went to Tamaki College to experience what work is like at college. I am currently in Mr Grundy's class. In this class we do  hard work material, which is creating things with wood. Today I proceeded to the next level which was cutting out my design, when we finished we would show it to the teacher for his approval  to move on to the next stage.  According to google research pewter is "A alloy of tin with copper and antimony," (Firmly, tin and lead) 

While the pewter is melting he would go help other students that are struggling. To get his attention we would yell MR! to notify him the pewter is melted. When that role is completed he would turn off the gas burner than pour it into our design holds up by another piece of wood. We would wait for at least 5 to 10 minutes for our pewter to set.  After that we would take the pendant out than smooth the edges which is where I am currently at. But hopefully I would complete my work by next week. When we finished our tech class Mr Grundy told us that we have to make sure our workbook is up to date. When it was just about time to go he said his favourite part is to see our back left the class and then he said he was joking. I am up to polishing mine pewter I really enjoy my tech class.

Pewter Casting

Today years 7 & 8 went to Tamaki College, I was in the hard materials group. when I got their Mr Grundy sanitised our hands. Then we went inside the class. First we had to talk about finishing our hard materials before we leave. After talking about hard materials we all got started into your work. When we finished talking about our hard materials we went to the table our work was on and got our box. The box had our final drawing of our pewter then we had to write our names on the board then we had to wait untill Mr Gundy called out our name. When you put your namea in the board that means you aere stuck and you need help. When we get called out we have to give Mr Gundy our pewter and he'll tell us that we have to make the sides smooth so what we did was to Make a good pewter casting neckels. So we have to write my name on the MDF, Secondly you trun your drawing over and roughly mark where it is. There after you put the pencil on the back of your final drawing. Then you place your MDF under your drawing. Carefuly trace your final desgin,pressing on it quite hard. your desgin will have transferred to you MDF. Using the scroll saw to cut out the shape from the MDF.Mark up the outside pieces. Ready for shaping on the sander.shaped an ready for pouring.Putting the three piceses togther and holding frimly. Melting the pewter.Then Mr Gundy was scraping off the oxide layer of the pewter. After Mr Gundy started pouring the pewter in the moulds.Then we have to take the cool pewter casting out of the mould. Then we have to cut off the sprue with a junior hacksaw.Then we have to drill the hole into the cast with the beach top pillar drill. After that we have to clean up the edges of the drilled hole. Using the needle files to get a great finish on the edges.Hold the work in a beach vice for areas that need more filing. Getting a good finish...Grits-180,400,1200,.. got to get that great finsh. Using a 1200 Grit with water. Then we have to wipe off the grit. Then Mr Gundy uses the buffer for a good finish. There after Mr Gundy starts to do the polishing with  Brasso for the final shine then we add a clip to make it as a neckels. I realy enjoy making the pewter casting with Mr Gundy because it shows we lots of differnt things. I have made a cross but it aint really done yet because I still have to sand paper it and then I have to polish it. But at the end of this week I would like to be up to poilshing it so then on the last week I only have to make the hole so the clip can go in it. The photo up top is what I am doing in Mr Gundys class I really enjoy it. 

Rugby

Today when the bell rang we went to line up. After that the teacher took us to the coach and his name is James. Then he made us play a game and that game is called Rats and Rabits. At first I didn't want to play because I wasn't in the mood for playing rugby.

Pewter Casting (Hard Materials)

Today we went to Tamaki college  and I was in the hard materials group and when we went in our groups we talked about materials of all different kinds and we had to fill in a doc about 4 different people that we were gonna make a necklace for it was fun knowing that we could make four different kinds of materials using medal. After we finished talking about the different material we all gathered around Mr Grundy and watched how he talked about doing silhouette it was very fun then the bell rang and we all said goodbye Mr Grundy said next week we will get to do the real thing and that would be silhouette materials. I am up to pouring the pewter into the piece of wood. After that I have to sandpaper the pewter.

 

Earthworms

During the past week we have been learning about earthworms. I have learnt so much about earthworms. What I did on this slide show was I wrote about their physical appearance,Habitat,Reproduction and a little diagram of the earthworm.
